About 21st Century

The 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program (CCLC) is a U.S. Department of Education program, administered through the states, to provide high quality, expanded learning opportunities outside of regular school hours for children in a safe and sound educational environment. The program is authorized under Title IV, Part B, of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
The main purposes of this program are to:
-
Provide opportunities for academic enrichment to help students at risk meet Federal, State and local student performance standards in core academic subjects such as reading and mathematics;
-
Offer students a broad array of additional services, programs and activities, that are designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic program of participating students;
-
Offer families of students served by 21st CCLC opportunities for literacy and related educational development.
The 21st Century Community Learning Center serves students in grades K-5 at Glasscock Elementary and Lebanon Elementary Schools. Students are accepted into the program based on teacher recommendation.
Extensive homework help and reading time will continue to be a major part of the program so that students can achieve academically. We will continue to partner with great services such as the Cooperative Extension Office and the Marion County Public Library to continue providing our students with exceptional enrichment programs.
To best serve the students, it is imperative they attend on the appropriate days. Unless previous arrangements have been made, Mondays and Wednesdays are reserved for students at Lebanon Elementary, while Tuesday and Thursday are reserved for students at Glasscock Elementary.
Bus/Parent Pick-Up
If your students rides the bus it is imperative that the center has an updated address. It is also required that someone is waiting at the location your student is dropped off. For the safety of the students, 21st Century bus drivers are not allowed to leave students unattended. The bus runs approximately between the times of 5:00-5:30 P.M. If your student gets picked up at the center, please make sure the person picking up the student was listed as "authorized" on the program registration form. Students may only leave with authorized individuals. Again, this is to ensure the safety of the students. Please feel free to contact me anytime with your questions or suggestions.
