Academic Team

This is our 10th year of competing in the Governor's Cup Academic Competition. Our team is made up of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. The team members compete against four other schools in District Competition and up to 14 in Regional Competition. Medals can be earned by individuals and by teams. Individuals compete in written assessment in the areas of Math, Language Arts, Arts and Humanities, Science, Social Studies, and Composition. Then a team of four compete in Quick Recall matches against other schools. They are asked various questions and the team members buzz in to answer. The team with the highest score wins. A team of four compete in Future Problem Solving against other schools. They are given a scenario with a problem to be solved and they solve it. Their response is scored and the team with the highest score wins. Being a member is both challenging and rewarding.

STLP

STLP stands for Student Technology Leadership Program. Our club is made up of 4th and 5th graders from Glasscock Elementary. Our STLP students are currently working on an activity that incorporates Leader in Me.  The students have surveyed teachers regarding their college experience.  They have taken digital pictures of our teachers and are creating a hallway display "I Went to College, You Can Too."
